Machu Picchu 2026: Discounted Ticket Prices for Peruvian and International Tourists
The Government of Peru, through the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (SERNANP), has introduced special promotional ticket prices for visiting Machu Picchu 2026. This initiative aims to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism at one of the world’s most iconic cultural sites.
The new entrance fees will be valid from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and apply to both Peruvian and international visitors. These reduced rates make it easier for more people to experience the beauty and history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The updated prices, according to Resolution No. 000004-2025-SERNANP/SHMPI-SGD, are shown below:
Visitor Type | Age Range | 2026 Price (PEN) |

International tourists | 18 and older | S/ 11.00 |
International tourists | 3 to 17 years | S/ 5.00 |

These are among the lowest Machu Picchu ticket prices in recent years, offering an excellent opportunity for travelers to plan a cost-effective visit to one of South America’s top destinations.
Free Entry for Residents of Cusco on Sundays
In addition to the discounted rates, residents of the Cusco region can enter Machu Picchu for free every Sunday during 2026. To take advantage of this benefit, visitors must show their National ID (DNI) indicating residence in Cusco.
This initiative is designed to encourage local tourism and give residents of the region increased access to their own cultural heritage.
Legal Foundation and National Tourism Policy
These pricing measures are supported by Article 34 of Peru’s General Tourism Law (Law No. 29408). The law allows for the creation of promotional rates in protected natural areas to strengthen domestic tourism and ensure more equitable access to the country’s cultural and natural landmarks.
Boosting Sustainable Tourism and Local Economies
Through this policy, Peru is reaffirming its commitment to sustainable tourism by:
-
Increasing public access to Machu Picchu
-
Supporting local businesses and communities
-
Encouraging the preservation of national heritage
By reducing economic barriers, these changes aim to make Machu Picchu a destination that is not only world-renowned, but also more inclusive and accessible to all.
