Colca Canyon Full Day Tour – Itinerary Overview

The Colca Canyon Full Day Tour begins between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m., with pick-up directly from your hotel in Arequipa. We’ll leave the city heading towards Chivay, traveling along a scenic route that passes near the snowcapped Chachani Volcano.

Upon arrival in Chivay, we’ll enjoy a local breakfast before continuing to the iconic Condor Cross Viewpoint (Mirador Cruz del Cóndor), located at 3,500 meters above sea level. This is the best spot to witness the breathtaking flight of the Andean condors and to take in panoramic views of the Colca Canyon, which drops over 1,200 meters down to the river below.

After spending time at Condor Cross, we’ll continue through the picturesque village of Pinchollo, one of the most traditional communities in the valley. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Antahuilque Viewpoint, where you can admire ancient pre-Inca hanging tombs and impressive stone terraces carved into the canyon. We’ll also pass through the Andean towns of Maca, Achoma, and Yanque, each home to beautiful colonial churches and local charm.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Chivay for an optional visit to La Calera Thermal Baths, known for their natural healing waters. Afterward, we’ll enjoy lunch and begin our journey back to Arequipa.

On the return trip, we’ll stop at several scenic points, including Patapampa (Mirador de los Andes) at 4,900 meters, Alto Sumbay, and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to native wildlife including vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, and guanacos — the four South American camelids.

We will arrive back in Arequipa around 5:00 p.m., ending a full day of adventure, nature, and cultural discovery in one of Peru’s most extraordinary landscapes.
