The 6-day Salkantay + Inca Trail to Machu Picchu combines two of Peru’s most popular treks. Visit Lake Humantay and Salkantay Pass to start this amazing trek and join the Classic Inca Trail in the village of Weirabamba. Arrive at Machu Picchu through the Gate of the Sun after 6 days of hiking in the mountains. Departs daily with a minimum of 2 participants.

Itinerary
Day: 01 Soraypampa – Humantay lake – Salkantaypampa – Ichupata
Get picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 AM and take a 3-hour drive to Soraypampa, where breakfast is served under the impressive Humantay and Salkantay mountains. After breakfast, start a gentle climb towards Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain. Enjoy spectacular views of the Vilcabamba Mountains, which separate the Andes from the cloud forest. The entire trek to Ikupata (aka Pampa Japonesa) takes about 8 hours. Camp next to a beautiful glacial lake under the mighty Mount Salkantay.

Day: 02 Ichupata – Sisaypampa – Canal Inca
Wake up in your tent with coffee provided by your trekking team and prepare to conquer the highest point of the expedition, the Inciriasca Pass (5100 meters / 16732 feet), also known as the ‘Frozen Inca Pass’. Once you reach the top, take in the stunning views while sipping a hot Coca-hi tea to acclimate to the altitude. Descend from the pass into the Pampakkawana Valley and follow a meandering creek to his third campsite next to a small village.

Day: 03 Canal Inca – Wayllabamba – Ayapata
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, embark on the 3-hour descent to the Inca ruins of Paucarcancha (3143 meters / 10410 feet), a beautiful and rarely visited archaeological complex. Lunch will be served near the Inca ruins where you will meet your Inca Trail porters and bid your mules farewell. Next, continue the 30-minute trek to Wayllabamba to visit another Inca site. Checking in at the second checkpoint on the Classic Inca Trail, she treks another two hours to her fourth camp in Ayapata.

Day: 04 Ayapata – Warmiwañuska – Chaquicocha
On this day, you will wake up to a different sound than the day before. The Inca Trail porter usually starts with an early breakfast to prepare him for his most difficult day on the Inca Trail. After passing Frozen Inca, Dead Women’s, and Runqurakay, the third day is a brief rest day. His most enjoyable day on the Inca Trail, a half day hike and a free afternoon to prepare for our final day at Machu Picchu. On this day we will visit several Inca sites such as: Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, Winaywayna.

Day: 06 Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco
On your final day, wake up early to prepare for the final leg of the Inca Trail. After passing the final checkpoint, start his 1 hour hike to the Sun Gate (Intipunku) where you will see the first and most beautiful views of Machu Picchu. Explore the lost city of the Incas with your guide. In the afternoon, return to Cusco by train.
