Inca Trail Oficial Availability

Inca Trail Oficial Availability 2025: Secure Your Spot Early

If you’re planning to hike the iconic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, it’s essential to check real-time availability and make your reservations as early as possible. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture strictly controls the number of available permits for all Inca Trail routes, including:

  • Classic Inca Trail – 4 days / 3 nights
  • Short Inca Trail – 2 days / 1 night
  • Short Inca Trail – 1 day hike
  • Tickets to Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu & Machu Picchu Mountain

Permits are limited to 500 people per day on the Classic Inca Trail, including porters, guides, and cooks. This makes actual tourist availability even more limited. Availability for Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain is also restricted and tends to sell out months in advance.

When and How to Book the Inca Trail

We strongly recommend that you book your Inca Trail trek 6 to 8 months in advance, especially if you plan to hike during the high season from May to August. Availability for 2025 is already being booked, and spots for March, April, June, July, and August are filling up quickly. Bookings for 2025 are also open now!

Don’t delay—once permits are sold out, no additional tickets are released. This applies to all licensed tour operators, as permit allocations are managed exclusively by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture. All agencies access the same centralized permit system, so booking early is the only way to secure your spot.

Please note: The Inca Trail is closed every year during February for maintenance, repairs, and conservation. This is also the month with the heaviest rainfall, making it unsuitable for trekking.

Important Info About Permits, Circuits, and Treks

Due to updated regulations, Machu Picchu now operates with 5 entry circuits. The circuit you can access depends on your type of ticket:

  • Classic Inca Trail & Short Inca Trail: Include entrance to Machu Picchu via Circuit 5 on the final day.
  • Huayna Picchu & Huchuy Picchu tickets: Include access to Circuit 4.
  • Machu Picchu Mountain ticket: Grants access to Circuit 3.
  • “Llacta de Machu Picchu” ticket: Allows you to choose any circuit.

If you’re considering alternative treks such as the Salkantay Trek, Inca Jungle, Choquequirao Trek, or Lares Trek, your Machu Picchu entry will always take place on the final day of your journey. These treks do not require Inca Trail permits but still require Machu Picchu entrance tickets, which are also limited.

Keep in mind that some agencies reserve large blocks of tickets in advance, which can cause availability to disappear suddenly. Once dates are sold out, there’s no option for waitlists or additional tickets, so early booking is the only way to guarantee your place.
